This is a classic Aquarium piece that is so iconic from James Nowak.
He has done something very different here by making a low flat vessel instead of one of his more usual forms. The piece is made even more unusual by the addition of a clear glass applique to one side of the exterior.
The piece is quite heavy and has a lot of presence, but the elements also give it an amazing lightness.
The colors are glorious, with a dark tone base glass which allows a multitude of Nowak's signature elements to really POP as the radiate over the exterior surface. An incredible assortment of elements comprise mostly cool tones in blues, greens, and lavenders, with just a bit of red to make it all pop, The white interior adds more depth and really makes the elements stand out. The clear glass applique, which resembles an elongated scallop shell, and twists and bends the elements below it, makes the piece even more interesting.
The piece is signed by Nowak, but he has signed it with the name of the piece, rather than with his actual signature.
Its unfortunate that Nowak did not add this form to his regular production, as it is truly gorgeous, but by only producing a couple of these prototypes does mean this piece will remain very unique.
